Nidaq board DigitalIn

Hello,
I successfully installed the DAQmx extension and can now work with the DigitalOut on my NI DAQ board. However, I am having difficulty receiving a Digital In signal. I am not sure whether the problem lies in receiving the signal or parsing the information out of the buffered data packets. Is there any example code showing how to configure a digital input line and use the data stream for simple logic operations? I receive a voltage signal from an IR beambreaker, which works in Nidaq test panel for the specified input channels.
