I confess that I screwed up when I went too far with the installation instructions for Proton VPN which caused my Linux Mint Cinnamon Desktop to be replaced with the Gnome Desktop. (https://protonvpn.com/support/official-linux-vpn-ubuntu).
So, I did a restore via Timeshift but ever since then I have been unable to launch or reinstall Bottles.
I have tried reinstalling Bottles via the Linux Mint Software Manager. The error message is always: 'Wrong origin Flathub for update'. I even tried changing to the default central repository but that did not make any difference.
I have also tried installing using the official Terminal Commands but there is always a failure with the installation of: 'org.gnome.platform.compat.i386' (Branch 47).
I even tried reinstalling Wine to see if that would make any difference. So, I think I have tried all the obvious steps. As Bottles is the only app that appears to have been affected by my screw up, I just want to ask if anyone knows what exactly could be causing the problem and if there is a simple fix alternative to a fresh install of Linux Mint?
