Can a temporary or perm filter be added in the object browser at the file level

Using the designed method of filters is not helpful as we land up having hundreds of filters.

I suggest adding a temporary or permanent filter at the source file level where we can reduce the number of members in the list. I often have hundreds of members in a source file and its not efficient to have to keep scrolling to find your member. The member filter could be added near "New Member" as shown below.

Example:

Using a temporary filter, which would be good until VSC is shutdown would go a long way for many of use supporting and maintaining existing code.

@a4ginatl Have you tried the highlight feature in VS Code for the member list? This VS Code feature can highlight AND filter for any text you enter, e.g. part of a member name.

In the example below, I have opened the QSYSINC/H source file and have clicked the highlight icon and entered 'bse' as text:

You can have also filter the list with the text, by clicking the filter icon in the highlight text box:

You can also have a fuzzy match using the icon, where the characters may be spread in the name:

The highlight feature makes it easier to navigate a long list of members or streamfiles...

@a4ginatl You can in fact do this by making your filter more specific. You can make use of the Objects and Members section when creating your filter to narrow down your search. For example:

I tried this and it will work. The only difference is this is a permanent solution that makes the list filters grow. I am suggesting a temporary filter that will disappear when we log off.

Some systems have so many systems and applications, the list of permanent filters becomes too long.

@a4ginatl Does Christian's suggestion satisfy what you are trying to achieve. The only issue I see with that is that it impacts all filters in the view.

@a4ginatl Check out the profiles documentation. Even though it won't give you temporary filters, it may help organizing them (or you could just create a profile, create filters and then delete the profile once you're done).
