Start-up Checks

When connecting to an IBMi VS Code does several checks. Is there some way that we could add a setting that says how often to check this. Either check every time or check once 24 hours and cache these settings. I understand there are probably a few that are needed each time but maybe not all? When connecting it just takes a good amount of time to do these checks. I realize a lot of people may leave VSCode open all day and I usually do as well but then when a extension update comes in and needs to restart extensions it takes a while to reconnect.

Not sure how feasible it would be just an idea.

Good idea. I'd say at least once a week by default, but also make it configurable.

@thomprl This feature is already available in C4i and is called Quick Connect:

I made this feature a long time (years) ago, because of exactly the same reason which sparked your idea: slow connection time.
There is no need for checking the same server values over and over again...

@worksofliam IIRC some checks were added since the invention of Quick Connect... are these checks in Quick Connect?

Weird because I have quick connect checked and it still takes about 25 secs each time to do all the checks that pop-up. Connect and Reload and just Reconnecting seem to be going through the same number of checks and taking the same amount of time for me. I really don't know what it's doing in the background so maybe they are necessary.

There was a bug I fixed that prevented the extension storage from storing the cached settings that are supposed to not be reloaded every time. But this fix has not been released yet, and that's probably why it doesn't work for you. See #2876

But it's been pre-released, so if you switch the pre-release extension, you may see in improvement! (it will connect and reload everything one last time though).
