How to substitute|remove unique_version_history:true in resource type

Hi,

We have updated from 6.7.1 to 7.6.0 and accidentally got that one of the pipelines has unique_version_history: true in resource type

Part of config:

resource_types:
  - name: git-prs
    type: registry-image
    unique_version_history: true
    source:
      repository: <some_image>
      tag: latest

  - name: github-status
    type: registry-image
    unique_version_history: true
    source:
      repository: <some_repo>
      tag: latest
      username: ((username))
      password: ((password))

I am not sure for what reason unique_version_history: true was added so have a next question:
Can unique_version_history be safely removed without any impact? Or it should be changes to other option?

In our pipelines we have removed the unique_version_history and re-set the pipeline, it worked without any issues

The unique_version_history is related to the “global resources” feature. See #4870 and #5230 that explain why it was introduced in the first place. It allows “unsharing” the history of a resources between all pipelines of the same Concourse installation.

unique_version_history was removed in Concourse v7.0.0. So, after upgrating to v7.6.0 the unique_version_history: true config in your pipelines are no more honored anyway. I would suggest you drop it.

In case you would experience issues with the shared resource history across all pipelines, the you may deactivate the optional “global resources” feature.
