Change excercise evaluation items back to previous version :-)

I appreciate the efforts made by the Dodona team to improve the built-in evaluation system. However, I feel that the upgrade to the new version is a step back.

I used to add a lot of context to my evaluation items, using the built-in Markdown to include an example solution for the item that was being evaluated. I used a lot of multiline descriptions. I saved the feedback I used in a Markdown file that I included in my exercise repositories. This made it easier to create the evaluation the next year an exercise was used during a test. I can no longer copy paste these because the newlines are being interpreted as a new evaluation item.

I also miss the clone button which would enable you to clone items from another exercise.

If I understand correctly, you have two issues with the new module: multi-line descriptions and copying score items between questions?

About the first one: it wasn’t meant to be impossible, so that’s actually a bug. We might be able to fix it easily by enabling text wrapping in that cell, like in https://bossanova.uk/jspreadsheet/v2/examples/text-wrapping. That being said, we didn’t really design the UI with long descriptions in mind, so it hasn’t been specifically tested for that. Do you have an example of a description you’re using?

For the second issue, I’ve got better news. Copying score items between different exercises is actually much easier than before. It was in fact one of the main goals of the module redesign. On the page where you add rubrics, you can now switch multiple exercises into edit mode at the same time and copy entire rows from one exercise to another. You can even manage your rubrics externally in Excel and add them back in easily by copy-pasting.

Hope this helps! I also hope you appreciate that the new editor is much faster. With the old method, you had to click a lot to add a score item.

@heremansgeert We deployed a new version which re-enables typing newlines (using shift+enter). Pasting in descriptions containing newlines did work previously, we you have to make sure you are in "edit mode" within the description cell by clicking once again when it has the focus. This is similar to how Excel en Google Sheets work. If you paste text without being in edit mode, it will spread multiple lines of text over separate rows.
