Posted at 2014-12-24 by @gfwilliams Yes, it'll be the classic one - it's just more sensible for easy hand soldering. I think a few people had issues with the HC-05 on the original board. The tiny one does look good though. I could definitely see about adding pads for it to the adaptor, or maybe doing a specific adaptor for it |

There's the "classic" with the 2x4 pin 0.1" header.

Then there are a few versions with castellated pads with GPIO's broken out and stuff. http://www.electrodragon.com/product/esp8266-wifi-board-full-ios-smd (one example - there are a couple of options on that page too...)
Which version are we getting? I'm bringing this up because I assume the plan was the "classic" - but I think the ones with castellated pads would let you make the whole thing thinner. Soldering the castellated pads onto the adapter would let us get a very thin wifi adapter, whereas with the "classic" module, the length of the pins limits how thin it can be. Maybe it would be possible to have one adapter PCB that would work with both (ie, a set of pads for that style, and holes for the 2x4 header on the classic).
