Using Giscus Themes?

I followed the instructions on How to Enable Page Comments for adding giscus comments to my Flowershow Cloud site and it says in that page:

Note: You can ignore other settings as they are pre-configured in Flowershow Cloud.

But the default Giscus theme doesn't fit well with my overall site theme and since it's loaded in an iframe I can't style it with my custom.css (at least I don't think I can, I've certainly tried!). Looking this all over I think there's three different approaches that could be feasible for styling the Giscus section:

• a separate text box in the Flowershow configuration page that would allow specifying another CSS file and have that text translated into data-theme in the <script src="https://giscus.app/client.js" element (I don't see a way for me to do that myself but if there is, my problem is solved immediately!)

• a separate text box in the Flowershow configuration page to paste in the name of the Giscus theme displayed on the Giscus App configuration page (eg. dark_tritanopia, light_high_contrast, etc.)

• a checkbox on the Flowershow configuration page that would load some fixed asset (say giscus-custom.css) inside the <giscus-widget... iframe where it loads the whole new HTML block (that seems unlikely to work, but I still don't understand all the ins and outs of Giscus and Flowershow implementations)

Updating with a screenshot of what I was thinking for the configuration option, if that were possible.

I thought I would go ahead and create a POC of the first option (text box for a data-theme URI) but it seems like the code where that page lives isn't in a public repo (or at least I couldn't find it). I'd be willing to try writing this up for consideration if there's any interest, though. Always happy to help!

@knottybiscotti so great to hear from you. This is a great suggestion and shouldn't be too hard to add.

One quick clarification: do you just want to use one of the other default themes that giscus have or a completely custom theme?

Oh, honestly I would be happy with either. The more flexible option is being able to supply a completely custom theme, because that completely custom theme could still be one of the Giscus built-ins, but the ones they have available have a pretty good variety anyway IMO. I don't think you can go wrong with either option. 😃
