How to combine middleware?

I have basicAuth and specialAuth. I prefer to keep them separate for organization, but I want to combine them into a single auth middleware for my router.

I've gotten this far before realizing I don't know what I'm doing:

const auth: AppMiddleware = async (c, next) => {
  // ???
  await basicAuth(c, () => specialAuth(c, next));
  await next(); // probably not needed
};

Probably it will call next() multiple times. So simply, how about making MiddlewareHandler[]?

  username,
  password,
  authKey,
}: {
  username: string
  password: string
  authKey: string
}): MiddlewareHandler[] => {
  return [
    basicAuth({
      username,
      password,
    }),
    specialAuth({ authKey }),
  ]
}

app.get(
  '/auth/*',
  ...auth({
    username: 'foo',
    password: 'bar',
    authKey: 'value',
  })
)

Does chaining not advisable like this

  app.get('/auth/page', jwtHandler(), tenantIdHandler(), roleHandler(), (c) => {
  return c.text('You are authorized')
})
