I had a short chat with @ColinKerr about this. Colin raised a concern that for some users file names may be more appropriate than PW document descriptions, and maybe this could be configurable in PW. |

Another user pinged me to point out that the idea has already been submitted here and has received quite a few votes. |

I am submitting this idea on behalf of several users that I have worked with who would like to have the option to display ProjectWise Document Descriptions in place of Document Names (and to set as default) in the iModel Tree View and in the tool tip pop-up when holding the cursor over a graphical element. Of course, this would need to have some reasonable character limitation.
File names are rarely fit for delivering content to a diverse group of interested parties, and especially when individuals in that audience are not engineers, CAD savvy, or familiar in any way with an ISO19650 naming convention. Providing the ability to show people a file tree that is comprised of meaningful descriptions will help eliminate basic friction points in the UX and facilitate more intuitive digital deliverables.
