Definitely Linux Mint is successful.
Many say, because it mimics quite well Windows 10, but others tried too, without that success.
IMHO the very reason is not frequently given: Mint's applications.
Other distributions are using quite fancy names for the file manager and other standard applications, different from Windows, confusing new users.
I like the clear intuitive application names for Mint, and the fact that, consistently, every application has a short description below the name, making it really easier for newbies to find which application is doing what.
