I use Krusader as my default file manager. However, it does not support restoring trashcan files to their original location.
Dolphin supports this.
It would be very useful if I could specify which file manager the trashcan opens when I double-click the icon on the desktop.

The 'trash' icon is just a shortcut to a virtual location - trash:///, and is opened like any other location, by the default file manager.

The only alternative I can suggest is to create a fake 'launcher' to put on your desktop -

xed ~/Desktop/trash.desktop

paste in:

[Desktop Entry]
Name=Trash
Type=Application
Exec=dolphin trash:///
Icon=user-trash-full

Save it, then make the file executable:

chmod +x ~/Desktop/trash.desktop
