Are there any plans to use the *-updates Ubuntu repositories in point releases?

Currently Linux Mint lags behind other distributions in terms of package versions in point releases, seemingly due to not using the *-updates (e.g. jammy-updates) repository.
This includes packages necessary for newer hardware to function such as updated releases of Mesa.

Has there been any real discussion/consideration in including these packages? Are they known to break Mint-made modifications?
