An easier way of setting a default folder for Nemo upon opening and saving files from the internet

I think there should be an easier method of setting default folders for Nemo when opening the file manager or saving a file from Firefox. I want to set the default folder to Desktop, because I save all my in-transit files there and move them to their appropriate folders. The Linux Mint Forum provides these methods for changing the default folder, which is simple enough:

However, there seems to be a problem where launching a folder. When you launch a folder, another instance of Nemo is created which opens the default directory. This is undesired behaviour. There are workarounds, but it would be preferable if there was a toggle in Nemo settings instead.

I think this would be a neat feature and would improve usability greatly. Thank you for the great work you have done so far.
