Please add a way to do a distro release upgrade completely from the commandline

I run a headless Mint box. it has no monitor keyboard or mouse. it sits in my attic. it's a file server. I use mint because I use several mint desktops and it keeps me from having to mentally switch to a different distro. I'd like a way to do a distro release upgrade without having to export an x session over ssh. I.e. I want to just ssh into the box and do a distro upgrade. thanks.

Mint is a derivative specifically for Desktop use, for server I recommend using Debian or Ubuntu LTS (which Mint uses as a base).
For server use I personally prefer Debian as it is excellent, solid and also excellent for keeping version upgrades with only rare problems.
At work I have several Debian servers updated inplace with excellent results and time savings (rather than doing a new install and migration), one even updated over the years from Debian 5 up to Debian 11.

I think it is not advantageous to use Mint on servers and/or devices without a graphic interface, the problems you encounter are certainly greater than any differences or information you should take into account by using one of its bases instead (Debian or Ubuntu LTS)
