Feature Request to add "Off" to System Settings>Mouse and Touchpad>Mouse>Acceleration

The only options currently listed for mouse acceleration are "Device default", "Constant", and "Adaptive". It doesn't seem like any of these options turn off mouse acceleration.

I Googled a bit to look for answers, doesn't seem like there's a convenient way to turn off mouse acceleration in Linux Mint. Seems like a pretty normal OS setting that should be supported in System Settings.

this NEEDS to be a feature because other distros have this option. its such a ux disaster

I'll back this as well. It's a very standard piece of gamer advice to disable mouse acceleration both within games and in the OS for more consistent mouse movement, yet doing that permanently in Linux Mint requires config file edits (which ones exactly seem to confuse the forums, and guides for other distros don't seem to work), and what exactly the current settings do aren't remotely clear at a glance.

Wouldn't the "Constant" mouse acceleration option turn mouse acceleration off?

That's part of the problem: if you aren't one of the guys who made the software or digging through the source code, do you really know for certain what terminology like "constant" means? I had to check the libinput documentation to hazard a guess that it's probably the flat acceleration profile (which is what people who want mouse acceleration "disabled" on Linux want), but it's worded just ambigiously enough that neither a GUI-centric newcomer who wants his mouse acceleration "off" for more consistent mouse movements in video games nor someone who's used to setting the flat acceleration profile via a config file knows for certain what he's looking at.

When I first tested this back in April, none of the available options would turn off mouse acceleration. In the meanwhile I wrote a script to turn it off. Seeing the new comments on this post made me decide to test the system settings options again. It appears that "Constant" is now turning off mouse acceleration.

Maybe something has changed since April, maybe I (somehow?) messed up my initial testing, or maybe the startup script I've been using is messing with things.

I do think it would be a good idea to change the UI label from "Constant" to "Off", if that option is indeed supposed to turn off mouse acceleration.

The "Constant" acceleration seems to do the trick.
