Both packages are handled upstream even if installed by default. For Debian, fastfetch was added and will be available in Debian 13 which should be the base for LMDE 7. For Ubuntu, fastfetch was added and will first be available in the LTS with Ubuntu 26.04 which should be the base for Linux Mint 23.x. Whether one package or the other is the default or if the default will change shouldn't matter much at that point since users will be able to install and use whichever one they want. |

Seeing as neofetch is now no longer maintained, maybe it's worth integrating fastfench into Linux Mint instead? It's snappier and provides more information than neofetch did, too.
