Repository server (packages.linuxmint.com) inaccessible

Hello!

I performed a clean install on a new machine and, when trying to perform system updates for the first time, the process fails.
Looking for what's causing this error, I discovered that the main repository server (packages.linuxmint.com) is inaccessible.

Looks like the current Internet Protocol connectivity for this server is missing.

I could switch to another mirror but I believe of helping the whole userbase and not only me as an individual.
Could you please investigate what's happening and provide a fix as soon as you can? I'm willing to provide further information and do testing from my end, if that's the case.

Hi @UnderEu, I think it's on your ISP side. Change your DNS to make sure.

It's not an ISP issue. packages.linuxmint.com does not have proper internet connectivity and is only reachable from the legacy internet.

Hi! I have the same issue since one week.
I can't update my linuxmint installation and when I try to fresh install I have the same problem.

I'm stuck in linuxmint 20.1.

I'm in France I don't know if it could be linked.

I don't know how to change the mirror on an install. It switch automatically back on packages.linuxmint.com.

You can switch mirrors via the Update Manager application settings but, AFAIK, it works on the already installed system only, it doesn't use these settings on the live media session (i.e. for installing multimedia codecs during a fresh install).
