I would like two applets to be in Cinnamon and MATE: one shows apps which can handle the media type of the dragged content when dragging, one holds items and can accept them by dropping. Possibly even show the clipboard |

Windows recently got this new feature that when you drag a file to the top of the screen you can instantly open it with the app of your choice. This imo is much faster than the traditional right click menu.
mac's version is a bit different. When you put a file into the "Drop zone", it stays there. Like putting a book into the shelf. You can then open an app, and drag it from there. Much efficient than searching for the file everytime in the file browser/item picker.
Am I seeking this feature because I want Linux to work like Windows? **No,** it's just useful.
