In principle such a voltage divider should work. 200K/ (1M+200K) = 1/6. 1/6 * 15V = 2.5V. I have no clear idea why your voltage regulator has burned. Modern regulators limit the current even in case of short circuit. |

On many boards the 3.3V regulator is meant to have a 5V input. These regulator have a maximum input voltage of 6-7V. Applying 10 or 15 V breaks them. In order to drive your board from the solar panel, you need a second external regulator to drop the Solar Panel voltage down to 5V. |

Thanks. It's hard to understand why this circuit would break the regulator. With R1 = 1 MOhm, connected to the ADC input, the worst that should happen is a damage to the ADC input. But not even that is to be expected, since the inrush current of about 10 µA would flow through the ESD diode of the Pin into the 3V3 supply. But that would only happen if the R2 connection path is not stable. There have been regulators that break if fed through the output. The data sheet does not mention anything about it. Maybe something else on the board failed and there is a short now at the 3v3 supply. |

Did you measure the voltage on adc pin? |

With a pyblite, everything is fine at 13v...without second regulator... |

Hi,
A tried to check voltage of solar battery... So, from 10-15 Volt...
I have used a divider with R1=1M ohms, and R2=200K ohms. On a pybstick. At 5V it's work fine... At 13V, I checked with a multimeter without board: 1.9 V, 10 uA on the adc wire.
The voltage regulator has burned when I have connected the board.
... It's not the first one...
I think that my gnd point is shorted by my ADC wire...? So, I need to use R2 less bigger...?
I don't want to Burn other board...
Thanks.
