Building a UF2 for a Pico 2 W

I used: make BOARD=RPI_PICO2_W

Lots of compilation errors.

Any ideas?

There are a few ways that the build can go wrong, including:

• not having the toolchain installed. In this case, you might get an error message such as Internal build error: The submodule list should not be empty.. On a Debian system, these tools can be installed using sudo apt install build-essential cmake gcc-arm-none-eabi libnewlib-arm-none-eabi
• not specifying BOARD on most make stages (as suggested in the Building suggestion of the rp2 readme). make BOARD=RPI_PICO2_W submodules pulls in a lot of extra code that the default misses out.

I've just built a Pico 2 W firmware on a Raspberry Pi 5 using the following commands:

sudo apt install build-essential cmake gcc-arm-none-eabi libnewlib-arm-none-eabi
git clone https://github.com/micropython/micropython.git
cd micropython/
make -C mpy-cross
cd ports/rp2
make BOARD=RPI_PICO2_W submodules
make BOARD=RPI_PICO2_Wclean
make -j BOARD=RPI_PICO2_W

The uf2 has all the features I'd expect by default:

build-RPI_PICO2_W/_deps/picotool/picotool info build-RPI_PICO2_W/firmware.uf2
