Using MicroPython in VS Code

Hello everyone,

For those using VS Code as your IDE, how do you set it up to work with MicroPython? Currently, I am not using any extensions as most of the extensions out there seem to be vendor specific. However, I would like to at least get rid of the warning messages related to "not found" modules I get in my environment as the only interpreter I can select is the Python interpreter. Additionally, it would be great to get the help messages by being able to set MicroPython as the interpreter instead of Python.

I know that on VS Code one can select the interpreter. However, when I try to change it, it requires me to manually select an .exe file. Where can I find the respective MicroPython .exe file so my VS Code can use the proper interpreter? Any ideas?

To have VSCode (and most other mature IDEs that can work with an LSP) 'understand' MicroPython modules, extensions and limitations
you probably want to install the micropython-stubs

This won't help with the import errors, but if you're looking for extensions for VS Code and MicroPython, I have a couple you might be interested in:

Both are wrappers around Python command-line tools. One for ESPTool and the other for MPRemote. The goal is to get 90% of the command-line functionality as point and click context menus in VS Code.

It's kind of ESP32 oriented, but the MPRemote extension parts should work with any microcontroller.

I had PYmakr installed and then removed it

Should I delete the Pymakr extension on VS Code to use the esptool and mpremote extension?

To avoid confusion i would at least disable all but one
