OTBR not working with SLZB-MR4u

Seems that the new SLZB-MR4u is not working with the OTBR addon in HA via LAN.
If I use my old SLZB-06 everything works, but if I change the IP to my new SLZB-MR4u I get errors.

SMLight says: "Most likely, the OTBR addon is currently broken, unfortunately this cannot be fixed on our side. Please post a bug report in the addon developer repository"

The common reasons are:

1. Serial configuration is incorrect.
2. RCP is not running the correct firwmare.

Thank you very much @abtink. I've been in contact with SMLight and the problem seems to have been resolved with a new firmware update they sent me. I don't think it will be long before they release it to everyone.

Thread RCP version: 2.7.2.0
SDK: 2025.6.2

But still having issues to get the MR4U up and running with HA/OTBR (Just bought especially for Matter/Thread)
Using a seperate docker installation of all components but if someone can confirm to having the MR4U working with OTBR/Matterserver/HA it would be very helpfull....

@geephile Have similar problems with slzb-mr3. I'm running to with similar firmware:

My issues only started after upgrade to HAOS 17. I can't downgrade to 16.x.x and unfortunately all my backups are 17. I'm willing to try any dockerized versions of Matter/Thread server however just don't know which ones to try.

To add it to HA i had to extract te dataset from the docker and import that into HA, and now it looks like i have a preffered network and the radio seems detected (according to logs)
Jury is still out because i did not have time yet to add a Matter device but it looks better than ever according to the logs of the OTBR

@geephile do you mean to say that you can 'talk' to a SLZB-* radio running the Matter-over-Thread firmware, via TCP? I sure would like to see your docker-compose for that 😲🙏🏼

I bought the MR3U just recently - because I'd rather use a product like the SMLight-6U which I'v used for like a year+ for my zigbee devices than buy a Apple TV 4K (or like);

Turns out the eth part is not super simple :(

Anyone here that have managed to setup a OTBR container talking via eth0 to a SMLight MR*U ?

SMLight support says: Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee the compatibility for OTBR container installation.

I ran into this exact issue after blindly clicking the update button for the OTBR addon. Once it upgraded to 2.16.3, the OTBR would fail to start with the same error (pasted below). I then reverted to a backup that worked, 1.16.1 (I didn't have a backup for 1.16.2). Rebooted HA, and OTBR had the same issue. Tried various reboots, rebooted the SLZB-MR4U, rebooted HA, tried a few more re-installs but nothing worked.
At this point I did the following.

• Uninstalled OTBR
• Went into the HA .storage folder and remove any thread files. (suggested earlier in this thread)
• Went to the SLZB-MR4U web portal and reflashed the Thread firmware
  • Its on radio 1 (EFR32MG26) fw version : 20251218
• Rebooted the dongle
• Reboot HA
• Installed OTBR 1.16.1 from backup
• Reboot HA again
  Poof, OTBR started upo adn all my devices came back online.

@eeichhorn. Im not using otbr in docker container but rather the HA otbr app...so take what I'm saying for what it's worth..but a simple reflash of the EFR32M24 firmware...using latest 20251218..is what solved my issue. After I did that I could re update to 1.16.3. Someone on a reddit thread mentioned this as a possible solution about two months ago and I'm sure you probably saw that thread. Glad you found a solution that works for you

Same here I am using OTBR via HA App.
Thanks for the reply, I just did the update again, and it worked fine so the simple reflash of the device was the fix for me.
