I think this issue has already showed up once, but I can't find it. The gist of it is that perf is a wrapper script on Ubuntu that tries to run a kernel-specific build, and Ubuntu's repos won't have a matching build for OrbStack.

Any version should work fine as long as the kernel version is fairly close, so I'd recommend installing linux-tools-generic and running it directly (or symlinking it) from /usr/lib/linux-tools/5.19.0-42-generic/perf. It doesn't have to be a perfect match.

I don't think there's much we can do about this because of Ubuntu's wrapper script.
