Is there a way to check stack deployment logs while deploying?

I have a specific stack that takes an awful amount of time to be deployed. The others are reasonably quick and this one is not particularly complicated so I do not know why the lag.

Is there a way to check deployment logs when the deployment happens (some kind of tail -f)?

Hey @wsw70, when it comes to logging you will be able to check the logs on the specific container within the stack but not the stack itself. So if you click your stack, then scroll down to containers and under quick actions you will see the logs icon, click that and you will see the logs.

What type of stack are you attempting to deploy?

You are after the equivalent of docker compose logs within Portainer, yeah?

Yes, and also the equivalent of docker compose up where the logs are visible interactively. But if they are timestamped, a post-mortem review will be fine as well (the timestamps would allow to understand where the bottleneck was, not to mention other possible useful messages)

This has been raised as a feature request internally. There is no ETA on the release of this feature at this stage.

Late to the party here but I'm also keen for this feature. Synology DSM Container Manager actually does a decent job of this in that it pops a terminal window and shows exactly what is going on when starting a project/stack. Would be useful to see this with portainer.

I've had the situation today where deploying Immich for the first time as a Portainer stack. Portainer just says "Deployment in progress" and sits there spinning. I can see that a couple of images have been downloaded but there are no containers listed, so it must be having trouble starting them up. Is it really impossible to see what is going on or what might be going wrong during initial stack deployment?

i too would like a way to see full build logs when deploying a stack. Currently if it fails i get a small alert and no way to see the full build log. AFAIK?
