Portainer published ports not working

I have installed docker and portainer, but when i use the standard deployment of a image the published ports disappear and the service does not work.
When i use 'Publish all exposed network ports to random host ports' some work but some don't (like ubuntu)

I have been trying a lot of things and reinstalled it in different ways but cant seem to find what I am doing wrong, does someone maybe know?

When you say it doesn't work, could you please give some more details? When you click the ports and it opens a new tab, is the address correct or is it defaulting to 0.0.0.0? You may need to edit the environment details with the IP of the host

thanks for sharing this, it is exactly what I needed as the shortcuts were pointing to 127.0.0.1 even when accessing Portainer from another machine. I have now changed it to my machine's local IP and it's working perfectly. not sure why it's not using the local IP of the machine docker is installed on by default...

Servers can have multiple IP addresses so we can't assume the IP address is the one that containers will be accessed on. Having the Public IP field lets users set what makes sense for them.

Thanks for the quick response. I was more thinking about using the local IP as default but I can see why localhost is probably the safest default.

Not all images will expose ports, and those that don't won't have any ports published when this option is enabled. The ubuntu image does not expose any ports by default, so having no ports published is expected behavior.
