Just update the table

Is there any way just to update the tabel of a p:dataTable. What I don't want is that the header is also being updated.

The real problem I'm having is that I need to remove the filter from a column when it's hidden. This works now, but when the entire table is updated, the columnToggler also disappears, and the selectAll checkbox in the upper left no longer works.
