gt table messes up Quarto's toc link

Description

I have a Quarto document with a gt table. The gt table includes a column with the same name as a chapter. The table of content link of that chapter will lead me to the gt table column instead of the correct chapter.

Reproducible example:

One way is to set explicit IDs on your section {#....} at the end of the headings.

Note that the issue is not really about gt but about duplicated IDs used.
As content is generated, that's very hard for a tool to handle this and fix it on its own.

Agree, it's generally about duplicated IDs. gt and quarto are often used together, and their current default ID generation rule will lead to many conflicts.

The section ID generation is actually a Pandoc feature.

The only way I see to check for this considering the whole Quarto ecosystem (pre-render, computation, lua filters/shortcodes, partials/templates) would be to have a post-render script that somehow heck duplicated IDs for each documents.
