Regolith 3.3 on Ubuntu 24.04: settings not persisting (scaling, dark mode, screenlock)

I have a new install of regolith 3.3 on ubuntu 24.04.3, I had been running on an earlier 24.04 install with regolith 3.2

On my old system I was using i3/x11 and now I've moved to sway because I needed fractional scaling, which I thought worked in i3 but I'm loving sway just for the notification bar compatibility with apps and generally being faster.

I have problems with settings, though.

• I have to reset the scaling after every reboot
• dark mode switching doesn't work (seems to be known with possible workaround)
• screenlock and screen blanking don't seem to work

I thought this might be from copying my home directory but the problem also happens with a test user.

Any hints? Are these things from some kind of broken install or should I submit issues?

Hmm, can you verify that regolith-displayd is installed and running? @SoumyaRanjanPatnaik any other troubleshooting steps come to mind?

I can confirm.

I just tried deleting the dconf database and that didn't do anything.

Interestingly, I can't turn off fractional scaling. It just flips back on after apply.

Any other debugging suggestions would be welcome.

There's some sort of race condition that happens on some systems when regolith-displayd startsup, due to which the initial application of settings fails. Happens on only one of my laptops. The settings get applied when on doing Mod+Shift+R to refresh session and reload configs.

Also try deleting the kanshi profiles. Sometimes kanshi selects the incorrect profile if you're on a multiple display configuration.

rm .config/regolith3/kanshi/profiles/*

The reload works consistently! That's a good bit better.

Switching dark mode to light mode still has no effect.

I deleted the kanshi profiles but that didn't do anything. Also, my test user was completely new so it doesn't seem to be my copied over homedir.
