How can I expand the capacity in RustFS?

When my current disk is full, how to scale out nodes to increase storage capacity? Could you please provide the relevant documentation?

Our design is the same as MinIO. We also achieve capacity expansion by adding pools.

Just add another pool and use the following command to complete the capacity expansion.

Yes. We recommend that each pool should not exceed 32 nodes.
The design reasons are as follows:

1. The maximum value of a stripe is 16;
2. 16 is twice 32.

In the event of extreme risks, if it is 50% EC, half of the servers will be paralyzed. The data of 16 nodes is still safe. If there are more than 16 nodes, the random risk of data will increase.

1. We have a rebalance command to achieve rebalancing. However, the actual rebalancing is not very meaningful. Data will be automatically written to the new pool. If it is not in one pool, it will be searched in the new pool.

2. It takes three steps to put an elephant in the refrigerator, and it also takes three steps to expand RustFS:
   a. Configure the new pool cluster (do not start it);
   b. Shut down the first pool;
   c. Start both clusters at the same time.
