MinIO is a great product. It adopts a metadata-free design and puts metadata in the xl.meta of the hard disk.

We refer to MinIO's design in the design of the product to achieve MinIO alternative.

We admire MinIO very much. MinIO has been open source for 10 years, which is worth learning.

They have many advantages that we don't have now:

1. OPA, LDAP, LDAP support, they do better than us;

2. SFTP, FTP they do better;

3. Metrics they do better.

Where we do better:

1. Small file optimization, we are better with the ability of Rust.

2. We are better in open source licenses;

3. We will have more advantages in GC and memory control.

Similarities:

1. Everyone is great at core S3.
2. Everyone is great at S3 SQL.

MinIO has gained worldwide recognition, we need to work harder to make RustFS accepted by everyone.

I found the project is described as "distributed object storage", so rustfs is just focusing on single node for now.
