Strimzi reconciliation causing high zookeeper CPU

We are seeing a large amount of CPU in use for zookeeper every time strimzi reconciles. We will be moving away from zookeeper with the KRaft upgrade but a few concerns remain around the underlying cause and whether that would migrate over to KRaft.

We have 5 zookeeper instances and each sit around 50m but during the reconciliation they spike between 8-14 cores. In terms of number of topics, around 50, replicas around 2000, brokers, around 200. Logs don't yield any more info.

The main questions here are:

• Is this behaviour expected?
• If not expected, what are the likely reasons?
• How can this be resolved?

In general, it is not expected. But with ZooKeeper, not sure anyone is likely to look deeper into it (plus you have not provided any real details 🤷).
