My tauri v2 app's desktop shortcut is not working.

I published my app at Microsoft app store. However, after the installation i can not use the desktop shortcut. It says a permission error.
I am using tauri v2 Rust. I converted my .msi file to msix by MSIX Packaging Tool.
What can I do?

"normal" desktop shortcuts do not work. if you convert the msi to msix, does it use the same installer from our msi or is it something you have to set up yourself?
if it's our msi shortcut you may have to modify the wix template to remove the shortcut and then modify the msix template to use a native shortcut. Not sure if this really works but if it's just that it looks easy https://www.advancedinstaller.com/create-native-desktop-shortcuts-in-msix-packages.html#defining-native-shortcuts-in-msix - otherwise all other solutions seem to use some script which sounds awful.

Sorry for not being much help. This is all i can offer with Tauri not officially support msix yet. Maybe another community member knows more.

I did a trick-
i removed the shortcut node from the manifest created by MSIX Packaging Tool, and also deleted the all .lnk files from the package structure so that it does not create any errorable shortcut. Submitted for the application update at store, lets see what happens.

@mahadi-hossain Converting an MSI to MSIX via the Microsoft Packaging Tool often results in permission issues because the generated manifest doesn''t fully align with the restricted UWP/MSIX container environment, specifically regarding the entry point alias.

Since you are using Tauri v2, the recommended path is using the Tauri CLI to bundle directly if possible, or ensuring your tauri.conf.json explicitly defines flutter? (Wait, you are using Rust).

If manual conversion is required:

1. Check the AppxManifest.xml of the failed package.
2. Ensure the <Application Id="... Executable="..."> points exactly to your main binary.
3. The "Permission Error" on shortcut often means the shortcut points to the "Virtual File System" path but the user lacks rights, or the AppExecutionAlias is missing.

Re-running tauri build to generate a fresh MSI/NSIS installer is safer than post-conversion unless you strictly need the Store. For Store, try tauri-plugin-store workflow or strict MSIX bundling from Tauri directly.
