App icon will not update to a new version #15139

I'm creating an app with Tauri and I am having a devil of a time trying to get my application icon to switch to my newest version (which happens to be the second version -- the first was just too ugly). Here's a summary of all that I've tried: Icon shows correctly in Resource Hacker and taskbar but wrong icon in exe Properties and file association dialog Windows 11 Symptoms: Correct icon shows in taskbar and Start Menu shortcut Things tried: Verified all source icon files in src-tauri/icons/ are correct by opening each one Question: What else could cause Windows to display a stale icon in Properties and file association dialogs when the embedded icon is correct? |

iirc there were some registry entries used as icon cache as well but i can't remember what it was called. maybe do a registry search for your app's exe name and see if you can find it. still weird that nothing of what you tried helped, that's more than what's usually needed 🤔 |

hehe ... I guess this gets chalked up to a rookie mistake. The icon.ico file was corrupted. Never checked the file size. Thanks for thinking it through.
