Termux Support

I wanted to ask if it would be possible to add official support or guidance for running Teldrive on Termux (Android).

There are users who run Linux ARM64 environments via Termux, and TelDrive already runs well there using the linux-arm64 binary. Having a small, official note or guide for Termux (Android) would be very helpful for clarity and confidence.

Even a brief mention in the documentation about:

• Whether Termux is supported or best-effort
• Recommended way to run Teldrive on Android (if any)

would be great.

What do you mean with "possible"? Anything's possible. Would you mind putting man hours on adding such "official support", guidance or brief mention in the documentation? Feel free!

I mean the fact that there's an arm64 binary should tell you that Termux is supported. If you really think there's a need for "Termux? Yes 👍" in the documentation, just do a PR.

But really, what difference to you expect there to be in terms of installation? Just follow the guide that already exist. I don't use Teldrive on my phone but as far as I know I see no reason as to why the installation process in Termux would be any different than in, say, Debian. Or even Windows! Pre-compiled Arm64 binaries are available with every release. Android's battery management stuff in terms of running applications in Termux is the same as anything else you run in there, and there's plenty of information about that topic on the interweb. Ask an AI!

If you want to use Docker within Termux, well, there's plenty of information out there on that as well. I wouldn't recommend it though, at least not for this.

Well again after putting in a couple of hours I was able to make it work. But I still think they should mention this somewhere in the docs.After what I did yesterday, I now understand it is very similar. I also do about pull request well I can add a small documentation note
about Termux/Android usage, without claiming support. But again I am not sure how long I will be able to maintain its because I have exams coming up in next year months and I will be packed. Let's see

Again, what do you mean? It's just a note in the documentation and not a life long commitment. The only required support is that the Teldrive binary runs on arm64, which it does. And the only other optionally required support is that postgresql is able to run in Termux, which it is. There is not much more you can or need to do other than adding that note/guide to the documentation. Even if you write a guide page for the whole process, you don't necessarily have to keep maintaining it or be of service to, mostly because I doubt there's much to maintain. And who knows, in a few months/years maybe a new version of postgresql drastically changes something, then someone else will be able to edit the documentation, while in spirit thanking you for your kind contribution in providing the guide in the first place. Don't worry. It's a joint effort. And whatever other requirements a user might have that's not in the documentation, that's up to them to figure out.

And honestly, while I'd advise being reserved about AI slop in general, I really recommend using an AI to help you write that note or guide page. It's not that complicated. But in any case, take as long as you need - if it takes you 10 years to write that guide, being busy with other stuff, then so be it. If you don't want to do it, then that's fine too. Of course not "great", but absolutely fine.

I actually wrote a pretty detailed Termux guide based on my own experience while setting things up, but I’m a bit unsure what the right next step is

I’m not very familiar with the GitHub contribution flow, so I’m not sure if I should just open an issue and share the guide there or first just go ahead and make a PR with the .md file
Also not sure if this is something that should be included as official docs or not if it's get approv and I don’t want to overstep. Happy to do whatever you think makes the most sense, just let me know
