The average_radius is an attribute of the shape model base class, the flattening only of the derived oblate shape model (since it is not a defined quantity for all shape models). I'm not sure if the flattening of the oblate shape model is exposed as an attribute in Python, though. The link to spice should not be made inside the shape model, but only during its creation (where it already is/can be). |

What is the fastest way to retrieve information on the flattening of a given body?
If there is no current option to get the flattening from
BodyShapeModel, I'd propose to have something like:body.get("BODY_NAME").shape_model.flattening,which makes sense to me, since we have we have
body.get("BODY_NAME").shape_model.average_radius(coming from exposing the getEquatorialRadius function)Given that we have already implemented a
getPolarRadius functionin C++ (not exposed), we could in principle use it to get the flatting via something likeand then expose it.
Opinions/faster solutions?
