Using external library to write database extension?

Can this be used to to write database extensions? For example Informix dropped database extension from php 5.1 version, there is only a PDO version available. Can be ported old version of Informix driver to Zephir?

Yes, it is technically possible to write db extension using Zephir, but it's non-trivial task...
For that you will need to rewrite from C to Zephir code. You might try it by vibe coding. But it might be easier to fork existing C code and adapt to desired PHP version.
