how to develop on localhost against deployed kratos?

heya!
i have my deployed dev kratos server on kubernetes. now, i'd like to build a frontend application (with react router) and use the deployed kratos instance for auth. unfortunately, i didn't manage to get the cookie on http://localhost:5173. i tried with secure false, and with the --dev flag. both unsuccessful. do you have other tips? thanks in advance!

The core problem here are cross-origin cookies. Your browser rejects cookies from your K8s-deployed Ory Kratos because localhost:5173 and your Ory Kratos domain are different origins. Same-domain requirement is non-negotiable for security.
You could run a local reverse proxy that forwards Ory Kratos routes to your K8s instance - that is what we do in Ory Tunnel essentially.
Is there a reason you can't run Kratos locally via Docker during development?
