Can’t boot openCore

Hi,
I’ve followed the guid by the letter.
made a usb from Catalina, used 3.0.1 pkg, checked Show boot menu, thunderbolt (other from legacy), patch osx, made the usk drive.
chaged the BiOs settings:
Remove fastboot, remove secure boot, made usb first boot. Press F10, see an option of OpenCore, hit enter…. Nothing.. the screen blinks and return to the same bios options..

Note the I didn’t changed the WiFi card yet.
but I don’t think it should matter to show the OpenCore’s menu or not..

Please help..
I have the latest BIOS fw, NUC8i7hvk, 32GB RAM, WD M.2 1TB SSD configuration with 2 hdmi connected monitors.
my USB flash drive is Sandisk 32GB

Press F10, see an option of OpenCore

That shouldn't happen. It implies you already have OpenCore installed on your main drive before or that you've booted into an older version of OpenCore in the past. Reset your BIOS and try again.

Thanks foe the reply, This is a brand new PC.
I will check for a newer BIOS FW, reset all to defaults and check. Also will try to switch to another USB pen drive.

Reset BIOS to defaults, disabled secure boot
My BIOS is 0067
My USB is ADATA 32GB
Installed Catalina on it, Chose native thunderbolt, patch OSX, Show Boot menu.

This is not even opening.
When selecting it, the screen flickers and that's it...

Well - maybe Windows-Boot Manager is the culprit!

Try moving the MacOSX drive on top of the boot order!

that doesn't help also..
I've tried with My Passport 2TB, and still nothing..
OpenCore is shown first on BIOS setting, but when F10, it's second..
Reset to defaults, HacMini 3.0.1.pkg
Secure boot: OFF
Thunderbolt: Legacy
Disable NVME.2 Slot 2

Well - did you try do get rid of the Windows Bootmanager?

As I see it is still loaded – unnecessary to say I don’t use it – if I want to boot my second SSD with Windows I just change the boot order in BIOS – that’s it.

You could disconnect the Windows-SSD for starters and start with a fresh formatted drive for MacOS.

So is it possible to have both M2 ssd populated and work with the built in wifi/bluetooth card?..

I’ve tried to disable the NVME slot 1 & 2
But still not showing the menu..
I need to format the drive clean? Like Unallocated space? Or any other format?

how can I format the drive clean without windows? Any suggestions?

Yes, I use both - one with MacOS and OpenCore and one with Windows 10 - but I don't use Windows Bootmanager!

You can't format a MacOS drive with Windows in the 1st place!!!

So yes - unallocated space!

You must format it in the installation process with Diskutil from MacOS!

How can I not use Windows boot manager?..
this is something that widows is installing while the installation of windows 10…
So how did you manage to have this both SSDs one with Windows and one with mac and choose what to boot?

Now I want to wipe the drive so it will be Unallocated space, how can I achieve this?..
I know that Windows can’t see Mac drives..
So I need to use some software off USB to boot from and wipe the drive.. what software?

Also, can you share your BIOS config screens?

I actually used the SSD in an eternal enclosure to install Windows...with the following tool:

To wipe the drive you can use the Windows Tool Disk Management:

Then you boot from you prepared HaC-Mini/MacOS/OpenCore-USB Stick and install MacOS on this drive.

To choose between Windows and MacOS I use the Dialog in OpenCore or the Bios.

…and I didn’t change much in the BIOS – only disabled secure boot.

The problem that it doesn’t even show me the OpenCore menu.. even with no ssd attached to it..

Edit: maybe that BIOS fw 0067 (latest) doesn’t support?!.. can I downgrade the BIOS fw?

Just tried the USB stick on some Windows laptop.. I can see the boot menu and OpenCore is loading...
So it must be something with the BIOS that prevents it from loading somehow..
any ideas what can be the cause for this?

What BIOS fw version do you have? 0065?

I use a rather old version 0059 - but I doubt that your newee version is the problem.

You should try a NVRAM Reset

As something with boot proecess seem to go wrong.

Hi there,

I am facing the same issues when I am trying to install the Catalina with the latest installer.

It reoccurring to opening the boot menu for me.

I have reset all Bois and reconfigured those 3 selections twice.

I am using the 970 EVO Plus 1T version, which is a brand new SSD.

Have you found anything that might help?
