Hello friends.
I wasn't happy with the state OWL was in. So, I started something similar, but with a very different approach.
I made Wawona Compositor. a wayland compositor for macOS, iOS, Android.
it ports waypipe-rs to these platforms. it uses the nix build system for patching, and cross-compilaton.
I've ported wayland over. I've been working on getting iOS build to work. I initially had some successes before I switched over to nix tooling.
I used AI for this project. Probably spent about $1100 on it so far, over a month.
I am now almost able to do what I need to for iOS. but, this project's scope is MASSIVE and I cannot do it alone. And, I have run out of money, so I can almost guarentee it won't be working with minor changes.
However, it will be open sourced soon, and I'm trying to structure my codebase as clean as possible for collaboration and development. I have high hopes, but alas... it might just be possible.
I hope that I can get contributor support. I do NOT want my project to die... someday, we can have waydroid on iOS, and maybe another day we could eventually get macOS apps rendered over waypipe to linux devices (I have ideas here).
Open source soon... 😭
