Owntracks recorder front-end in the app?

Hi all,
New Owntracks user here, trying to de-Google my life. I have setup a self hosted owntracks server here and it works great, but in order to be able to get rid of Google maps and the Timeline feature I would need to be able to access my geolocation history via the app. Right now the app is only a recorder that sends positions to the server. I think it would be a nice addition to be able to fetch data from the server, like done in the front-end application.
Is there maybe anyone who already looked into this? I could try and contribute but I've never coded anything for Android.

As you've already noticed, our smartphone apps aren't made for actual visualisation of tracks but simply for obtaining location data and submitting that to a backend.

I'm not aware of people having tried this, but I'm sure you could gain some amount of fame in attempting to implement a viewer. :-)

Well, there is MQTT communication, there is a map able to display points, so it looks like it doesn't miss much :)
All it misses as far as I can see is the ability to send a bunch of user selected data like device, start time, end time to the server, then receive a bunch of points back and plot them on the map.
On the server side it needs to be able to parse the request, make a query to fetch the points and send it. Again I have never coded anything for Android and I am not super familiar with MQTT so I might be underestimating the complexity.
I might start looking into this.
