Notify me of new post updates

Would it make sense to implement this feature, especially considering that most users are trying to declutter their notifications?

1. There is a new post from user A.
2. I find the topic interesting and mark the post with "Notify me of new updates" flag.
3. User B replies to the post (I am not mentioned), and I receive a notification.
4. User C replies to the thread within the post (i.e. replies to the reply of the user B, and I am not mentioned), and I receive another notification.

I understand this might be technically challenging due to server-centric notifications in the Fediverse.
However, does this feature make sense from a user perspective?
