Notification tab has to be reloaded twice to show new notifications

Describe the bug
As the title says: Even when Pachli notifies me in Android's notification bar, I have to reload the notification tab twice for Pachli to actually show me the new notifications.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Start Pachli
2. Have Pachli get notified of new notifications
3. Go to Notifications tab
4. Reload as often as required

I highly doubt that this is reproducible behaviour beyond my device and setup. It would already have been reported otherwise.

Expected behavior
New notifications on first reload, ideally the notifications should already be reloaded when Pachli gets knowledge of new notifications.

Yes, I have checked other issues for this project (open and closed) and I cannot find one that matches the problem I am reporting.

This issue is present for several weeks now, maybe two to three months.

After applying the workaround you mentioned in your gist, Pachli only needs one reload to show new notifications. Before the workaround, the query times were in the ballpark of about 3000ms and and the table sizes were multiple thousands, I think even 5 digits long.

I tried some changes to allow Pachli to do its background tasks but cannot say yet if it'll work. You can close this issue now if you want or keep it open for some days and close it then.
