I've forked the project.
It has some fixes from open issues and PRs, and added functionality to be able to use multiple PDNS servers (which is hardcoded to two, PR welcome)
I don't really plan on maintaining it further than this, but if someone is running into issues and wants to simply pip install . from a cloned repo, it may be of use until this project gets some love.
