This has already been done for defined by experimental probe in #351.
The idea is that classes that are solely subclasses of 'defined by experimental probe' will no longer be classified as techniques, while classes that are also subclasses of the other three top-level classes (e.g. 'defined by experimental physical process') will remain under 'photon and neutron technique'.
This accords with the discussion in #265.
