We've had some changes in how the IO formats have been handling the column names recently. I think this is inconsistent with some of the other ones so is worth a closer look if you'd like to investigate.

@WillAyd The name parameter does not appear to be supported anymore. I'm wondering if this issue is irrelevant at this point and can just be closed?

@DataShare-duo could you weight in and let us know if the current version of pandas does not support your desired use case here?
