How can I filter on join field?

Scenario

I have an Seasons collection which has a relationship field pointing to Episodes collection. A season can have multiple episodes.

What I need?

In the admin panel, I need a filter to tell me which episodes are linked a specific season, and which do not.

What I have tried

• Filtering on virtual field, which after a short while I realized that it's not possible.
• Tried finding the join field in the field, but it doesn't exist in the filter dropdown.
• A separate field in episode which updates based on hook in season, but that causes the season update to never submit without throwing any error.
