Upgrading to new version, how to ensure correct sessions table and columns are present?

I'm upgrading from 3.41.x and now the app won't run because I'm missing the user_sessions table. I can't find any documentation on which tables should be added, or which columns should be present. Am I missing something? Do I need to manually configure this? Thanks!
