Manually pressing save when auto generating API keys

I have collection that looks as follows.

When creating a new collection via payload.create() with enableAPIKey set to true a new api-key is created but it is not saved to the REST API output or valid for use until I press the SAVE button manually on the API-key page.

Has anyone experienced anything similar or found a solution?
