Is the default for observability.log-level really to not log at all?

Can you provide your configuration? This is not entirely unexpected if you are running a pure-server configuration, but otherwise would be a bit odd.

Here's my current config, after I've added an explicit observability.log-level:

Your log level line is weird, for info messages that should be log-level = "info". Once I do that, this does provide info lines.

Given the configuration file, I am guessing you are using binaries and default configuration provided by nixos. They might have made the choice to only display warnings in their default configuration.

Sorry. I'm not claiming that with "warn" I get INFO level logging. I claim that without specifying observability.log-level I'm getting INFO level logging. That line is my current config, with that option specified in order to work around the issue.

Apologies, I didn't realize what you were referring to. I have looked at the man page and it is indeed wrong. A fix is now in the pipeline (#1965)
